Nolwazi’s expertise in environmental management, waste management policy and strategy development spans over 20 years of experience in the Environment sector. She started her career working as an Environmental Consultant, conducting Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental audits for clients in the mining and construction sector.

She then joined the public service in 2000, managing urban development impacts when she worked for the Gauteng Department of Agriculture & Environment. Nolwazi became instrumental in reforming the waste management regulatory landscape when she joined the erstwhile National Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA), as Chief Director Pollution and Waste Management, where she led the development of the National Waste Management Act and its implementation masterplan.

Nolwazi will lead Nyanza’s efforts to comply and implement our espoused ESG principles which are in line with IFC environmental and social performance standards amongst other goals.
